Regionalism

From Conservapedia

Regionalism was a new movement in art during the Great Depression in the Midwest, developed by Grant Wood (1891-1942) and including Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975), John Steuart Curry, and Edward Hopper.

Grant Wood's painting the American Gothic is considered to be America's most famous work of art and is the leading example of Regionalism. It depicts the reality of a determined farmer, and captures his spirit.

Regionalism is intentionally devoid of any European influence. Regionalism also lacked any explicit criticism of anything.
