1. One of the most important outcomes of the Mexican War was being able to retrieve a large amount of land that had belonged to Mexico. The second, would be Zachary Taylor’s war heroics that greatly helped him win the presidency.
2. In 1839, a political party called the Whig party formed because of dislike for Andrew Jackson's Democratic party. The Whig party was successful for several years until about 1850 when it started losing members and started to show signs of collapse. Mostly because of slavery. In 1854, what was left of the Whigs merged with the Republican party.

4. There were so many one term presidents in the 1840’s and 50’s because there was so much conflict between the political parties that one small mistake would be in that time a big mistake which would not help their opportunities for being re-elected.
5. While the book “Uncle Toms Cabin” may have had some of effect on the South, I do not believe it was enough to put the South over the edge.

7. The Alamo was a church were a great battle was fought. Many people(including Davey Crokett, a famous congressman at the time) fought and died there. The cry “Remember the Alamo” was recited over and over to remember those who fought and died there. Shortly after this battle Texas declared its independence and became the “Lone Star Republic”.
8. I think that the Civil War (or any war at that) are able to be avoided if people try hard enough. The way I think we could have avoided the Civil War is negotiation. We did not try hard enough to talk with the South and make peace. So I think the Civil War could have been avoided.
H3. The south thought that they could win the war because they thought that they were stronger than the North. I do not agree that the South could have won because God was with the North. All of the stories that you hear about in the Bible when God is with these Countries that side always wins the war.
H5. The Dred Scott decision and Roe v Wade are in one way the same because in the Dred scott Decision Blacks were given no rights as a citizen and in Roe v Wade an unborn child was given no rights as a citizen.
