The four Biblical evangelists (those who wrote the four Gospel accounts) are Matthew the Apostle (a former tax collector, also named Levi), Mark (also known as John Mark, he accompanied Paul and Barnabas for part of their first missionary journey before returning home midway), Luke (a Greek physician who transcribed his Gospel based on eyewitness accounts), and John the Apostle (the younger brother of James, sons of a fisherman named Zebedee).
