From Britannica 11th Edition (1911)

Phoebe, in astronomy, the ninth satellite of Saturn in order of discovery, or the tenth and outermost now known in the order of distance. It was discovered by W. H. Pickering in 1899 by photographs of the stars surrounding Saturn. It is remarkable in that its motion around the planet is retrograde.
