Campaign themes[edit]

|
- $15/hr. Now Minimum Wage: The Minimum Wage is an unlivable wage. The movement across the country to lift the working poor out of the depth of poverty must be expanded to the Federal level. A uniform $15 per hour wage across our nation would do more to stimulate the economy than any legislation our dysfunctional political system has enacted in decades.
- War! Stop choosing a side and side with Peace!: With the passing of Pete Seeger, one of my personal heroes, we lost a well-loved troubadour, a champion for worker and civil rights and an ardent proponent of peace. We must take the peace messages from Pete Seeger and others like Martin Luther King, to continue the fight to bring about social change needed for lasting peace around the world. As a nation, we are heavily invested in the military industrial complex with a bloated military budget and military bases and forces around the world. I’m not sure this has been good for peace.
- Boeing- Corporate Extortionist: Are these words strong? You bet! And they are well deserved. Boeing is making a play at stealing back the benefits the Union negotiated. And they are pulling out all the stops to get what they want. They use fear and intimidation, “give us what we ask and no one gets hurt”. But the facts are that the last time we gave in to Boeing, to the tune of 165 Million dollars in tax breaks a year, they used that money to build their South Carolina plant.
