Indian Philosophy

From Conservapedia

Indian philosophy also referred to as Shad Darshan in Sanskrit refers to the six or seven (depending on one's perspective) systems of philosophy that originated in ancient India.

These seven include 1. Sankhya, 2. Nyaya, 3. Vaisheshika, 4. Mimamsa, 5. Yoga, 6. Vedanta and 7. Buddhism.

In Sanskrit shad means six. Drish is the Sanskrit root of the word darshan. Drish means "to see." In this sense darshan implies inner vision as well as outer vision. The six systems (or seven if one includes Buddhist philosophy) represent different visions of life. They are ways of orienting with reality.
