Nahum

From Jewish Encyclopedia (1906)

Nahum ( = "full of comfort," "comforter"; probably a contraction of = "Yhwh is a comforter"):

One of the so-called Minor Prophets. He is called, in the title of his book, "Nahum the Elkoshite." Where Elkosh was is not definitely known. The supposition that Nahum was a native of Judah agrees well with his keen sense of Judah's affliction under Assyrian domination and with his intense hatred of her oppressor.
