Discord (Chatting App)

From Conservapedia

Discord is a chatting app originally for gamers, but it is now also in Wikis and YouTuber groups, as well as among friends for personal use. Its purpose is to create communities. Some Discord servers are only allowed by invited users, however.

Voice, video and text chat are all offered. Chats are organized into servers, which include collections of voice and text channels.

The platform also allows users to create bots that can automatically interact with users and servers.

Controversy[edit]

Discord has been scrutinized for not cracking down on pedophiles who use Discord to groom underage minors, as well as other cyberbullying and hate speech. In addition, Tencent's investment in the company has been controversial.

Discord gained popularity with the alt-right, causing controversy.

Discord is sometimes used to send malware to users by hackers.
