Taxi is a vehicle designated for fee-based transport of passengers. Most notably, a passenger car painted yellow with a dash-mount meter to measure miles traveled. It can also be any van, bus, limousine even a helicopter or jet, Air Taxi.

The industry has an American market value of $16 billion with New York at 23.2% of all taxis and 6% of the total population.

Uber ride sharing service allows users to schedule rides via the internet. This bypasses traditional taxi service and is disruptive to the industry. Uber has a stock valuation of over $50 billion in 2015 and is an international operation.
