American History Homework 10 BenjaminH

1. I could have memorized more then I had, spent more time on things that I didn’t spend much time on, and I could improve on the 1800s.

Good analysis.

2. I like question number 4 because it involves my favorite time period.

Good again.

3. I think it was very strange how Evolution actually started (which was the main thing in the trial). Darwin was studying for the ministry, but he had a hard time believing that a good and loving god would allow all of the bad things to happen in the world. The real turning point in his life came when he was on a ship called The Beetle. The Ship then made a stop at the Galapagos islands which is the home of a famous finch. Charles Darwin then started to observe and collect the finches, then sent them back to England. After that he divided them into 13 supposed species. He noticed that some had long beaks while others had shorter ones. Upon his return home he started to wonder what make them look different. He thought of Geological gradualism and wondered if it had taken millions of years for these finches to look change.

Interesting. Good effort in researching that, though I think you give more credit to Darwin than he deserves. Basically he was looking for any way to justify his atheism.

4. Yes. We were right to enter because if we just sat around while the Germans sunk our ships with civilians on them then our population would decrease without us even putting up a fight.

Right.

5. I liked him as a rough rider because he was courageous and brave. Took hardships when his men did. The Rough Riders were actually supposed to be a squadron of cavalry but they could not get all of the horses over so they turned out to be some more foot soldiers.

Superb point.

6. I think that the 18th Amendment was a good thing because alcohol does nothing positive in our country. More evil comes out of it then good.

Excellent!

7. Teddy Roosevelt is in the center as the peace maker, holding on to Russia and Japan.

Good, but mention a detail or two about the peace treaty. (Minus 1).

Honors

H2. I think that the limitations were wrong because we founded this country on freedom of the press and freedom of speech and that’s the way it should stay.

Excellent.

H3. Yes. Alcohol is a bad thing. It breaks up families. A dad gets his paycheck, goes to a casino or a bar looses all his money while drinking. Comes home, has to tell his wife and family he lost all there money. Over 30% of families in the USA are divorced and many are because of that very reason.

Right. (Note: "loses", not "looses")

H4. I think that the questions were very difficult and different from any other exam I have taken. All of your other exams started out with a few basic questions and then worked up. This one went from hard to harder. There were no questions about the revolution, and way to many quotes from presidents but other then that it was good.

You're right, there were not enough easy question. Oh well, good challenges just make one stronger!
