Georgi Zhukov

Georgi Zhukov (1896-1974) was a military leader for the Soviet Union during World War II and afterwards. He is widely credited as one of the earliest and most successful proponents of manoeuver warfare.

Following the Battle of Khalkyn Gol in 1939 where his forces scored a decisive victory over the Japanese, Zhukov was made a Hero of the Soviet Union.

His forces defeated the Germans at Stalingrad in 1943 and next lifted the Siege of Leningrad in 1944. He led the final attack on Germany and the ultimate capture of Berlin in 1945. A hero, after the war he commanded the Soviet zone in occupied Germany.

Ukrainian Nazis tore down the statue to Zhukov in Kharkiv in 2019.^[1]

In the film The Death of Stalin, he was portrayed by Jason Issacs.
