The Taiga is a forest biome that rings the upper latitudes of the northern hemisphere. The Taiga is dominated by black spruce and paper bark birch growing together. The sunlight is low in intensity and there are only 50-100 frost free days during the summer but the taiga is the largest and most productive forest on the planet.[1] The taiga has very low biodiversity yet liberals prevent it from being harvested for charcoal and paper production. Ted Stevens was very supportive of logging the taiga in Alaska. Each year Alaska looses approximately the area of Rhode Island to forest fires.[2] These forest fires lead to significant air pollution, more particulates than the combined output of all the coal fired power plants in the world, releasing gigatons of CO2 in the process, which is supposed by liberals to lead to global warming.
