Calcium Sulfate

Calcium sulfate, also known as gypsum, is an unusually soft mineral that occurs in nature. Gypsum is number 2 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Gypsum is a key ingredient in cement, plaster, and drywall. Crystallized gypsum is called selenite. The chemical formula for gypsum is CaSO₄ · 2(H₂O) ^[1]
