Leon Edel

Leon Edel (1907-1997)[1] was an American author. His works include Henry James: A Life (5 volumes, 1953-1972), Bloomsbury, A House of Lions (1979), and Stuff of Sleep and Dreams (1982). He won a Pulitzer Prize for Henry James: A Life.[2][3] He was born September 9, 1907, grew up in Canada, graduated from McGill University, met Edith Wharton, researched Henry James obsessively, served in the army during World War Two, wrote an extensive biography of Henry James, wrote biographies of Willa Cather and Henry David Thoreau, and died September 5, 1997.[4]
