Gene Brooks

Gene Edward Brooks (1931-2004) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.^[1]

Brooks was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on July 27, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 4, 1979, and received commission the next day. From 1987-1994, he served as the chief judge. He served the Southern District of Indiana until his retirement on December 31, 1996.^[1] Brooks was succeeded in this position by Richard Young. Brooks died on April 19, 2004.
