The Georgia Guidestones was a stone-monument in Elbert County, Georgia. It was almost twenty feet high, consisted of six granite slabs and weighed almost 100 tons. It is also called the "American Stonehenge". The monument was built in 1980 and the client is unknown. However, it has been suggested that CNN's Ted Turner could have commissioned the building of them.[1] The monument has also been referred to as a monument to Satan for what it advocated in the carvings on its slabs (described below).[2]
A portion of the Georgia Guidestones was destroyed in a mysterious explosion on July 6, 2022, claimed to have been caused by an explosive device planted by "unknown individuals".[2] The remainder of the monument was demolished later that day.[3]
The stone slabs contained inscriptions, that promote population control and environmentalism. They were translated in English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin and Russian.
