Meeting every year, MAP's goal is to provide assistance and advice to aspiring countries on their defense, resource, security, legal, political, and economic aspects.

Currently, three countries are members - Albania, Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Membership to MAP does not prejudge any decision by the Alliance on future membership to the NATO allaince.
