The International Civil Aviation Organization or ICAO is a United Nations agency. The ICAO is charged with several objectives, including the safety and efficiency of international air travel. Among other things, the ICAO assigns airport codes, for example LAX for Los Angeles International Airport. The ICAO is also responsible for the current radiotelephony alphabet.[1]
