Apelles

Apelles was a Greek artist of the 4th century B.C. He was reputed to be the greatest painter in the ancient world. He worked as a court painter in Macedonia and his portraits of Alexander the Great were particularly famous.

None of Apelles' paintings have survived to modern times.
