CERN, or the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is located near the city of Geneva in the country of Switzerland. CERN is the world's largest particle physics laboratory, currently employing approximately 2300 full-time employees.[1]

Currently, most activity at CERN is focussed towards completion of the newest particle collider, the Large Hadron Collider, which began operation in mid June 2008.
