A Shrine is a reliquary or a place of worship at which devotion is paid to a sacred person or object. The site is usually hallowed by venerated objects.

A tomb of a saint could be considered a holy or sacred place. A reliquary is usually a highly decorated container for holding holy objects.

Shrines are object of pilgrimage.
