Barrocas, Mordecai:

A Marano, physician, and poet. In Holland, at an advanced age, he openly returned to Judaism about the year 1605; and in celebration of his initiation he composed some tercets in Spanish. Tamar Barrocas , a Marano-Jewess, probably one of his relatives, suffered a martyr's death at the stake in Lisbon, Aug. 3, 1603, in company with Diego de la Ascension.
