Debate: Was imperialism all bad? Was any of it bad?
I believe that when it comes to Imperialism there needs to be at least a symbiotic exchange between both countries. Too often there is the option for the larger and more powerful countries to take complete advantage of those less then them. This shouldn’t be. Imperialism needs to profit both sides. The Imperialist especially have a responsibility to build up the lesser nation instead of ruin them.
2. Imperialism by a charitable Christian people: a good or bad thing?
Considering the fact that there are many, many Christian organizations from America that are spread around the world helping others and bringing the love of Christ to people that are in need, I’m willing to say that Imperialism can be a glorious use for The Great Commission of Christ.
3. Your thoughts on the progressive movement, please.
After looking over the material written about the progressive movement I find it strange that we even have a category called “progressive”. If progressives want better government then isn’t everyone progressive? Republicans are progressive in their belief that a smaller government is better and Democrats believe better governments are larger. In this rare case progressives are just like everyone else. That’s why they are excepted by both parties.
6. What would be an example today of "yellow journalism"?
A major example of ”yellow journalism” is the current nuclear crisis in Japan. While there is an issue, the media has in many ways exaggerated and inflated the story in such a way that are just to promote sales. Instead of worrying about the 100,000 people who died and more that have lost everything, the American Media is obsessed with this nuclear issue and the money it is gaining from of it.
H1. Do you agree with how the United States finally ended the fighting in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War?
No, there was no real reason to be there, none at all. The blood that was shed in the fighting was truly pointless. The fighting there in my opinion never should have happened and the American military should have just simply left, not butchering an army of rag tag religious fanatics. You would think we would be above that.
H5. What is your view of John D. Rockefeller?
Honestly I like Rockefeller, he was perhaps the smartest businessman to have ever lived and a caring Christian man at that. Some argue that he caused a lot of problems with his new innovative methods and even had the government against him for it but of course it’s the people who think out of the box that get the most flak it seems. He gave so much back as well.
