Leslie Groves was a U.S. Army general who built the Pentagon building, then directed the Manhattan Project that built the atomic bomb during World War II.
Groves hired J. Robert Oppenheimer as scientific manager under Groves' supervision. Later, Groves testified for Oppenheimer in opposition to revocation of his security clearance by Congress. Congress revoked Oppenheimer's security clearance anyway.
