Genesis authorship -- identifying who wrote the Book of Genesis -- is a topic of scholarship and debate. As one of the greatest works in all of written history, the Book of Genesis attracts immense interest in discerning its authorship.

Three or five different styles, and thus different authors or groups of authors, are found in the Book of Genesis.

Language[edit]

Parts of the Book of Genesis may have been written in languages other than Hebrew, although it was entirely translated into Hebrew long ago.

Contrary to misperception, Jesus is not quoted as saying that Moses authored the Book of Genesis.
