Swans are an American experimental rock band formed in 1982 by Michael Gira. They are notable for their loud, abrasive, un-Christian noise rock. The band was formed by Michael Gira, who is outspokenly anti-capitalist and is the author of the Satanist book "The Consumer" where he describes many graphic acts of violence and sex (including homosexuality.)
The Swans band has gone through two incarnations. The first lasting from the album "Filth" to "Soundtracks for the Blind," the second lasting from "My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky" to "The Glowing Man."
