Efforts in Dixon, California, to recall Mayor Jack Batchelor, Vice Mayor Jerry Castanon and council members Steve Bird and Scott Pederson, from their positions were launched in September 2015. A former city councilor announced his intention to circulate recall petitions during a September 2015 meeting.[1] The recall did not go to a vote as no petitions were filed by February 5, 2016.[2]

Targeted officials had seven days after Michael Ceremello's filing with the city to submit rebuttals for the recall petitions circulated to residents. Recall organizers had to submit 2,000 valid signatures from city residents, which equalled 25 percent of registered voters in Dixon at the time of the petition drive. The Solano County Registrar of Voters must approve signatures before a recall election is scheduled. If approved, the city council would have scheduled an election within 120 days of the county's certification of signatures. A recall election held on the June 2016 primary date would have cost $100,000 and a special election on another date would have cost $200,000.[1]
