The Firearms Freedom Act (FFA), is a state-level act signed by Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer in August 2009, which declared that the manufacture of guns or gun parts within Montana - and which remain in Montana - were not subject to Federal regulation or registration. Taking effect on October 1, 2009, the FFA had an effect on other states; as of April 2010 six other states have passed their own versions and 23 others have introduced or intended legislation.
