Atomic Energy Commission

From Conservapedia

The Atomic Energy Commission was a federal United States civilian agency in charge of overseeing the research, development, production, and use of nuclear energy and nuclear weapons.

Established by President Harry Truman in 1946, the agency was headed by a five-member board of commissioners, with one board member acting as chairman. The role of the AEC is now performed by two separate agencies, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the United States Department of Energy.[1]
