Ḥiyya Ḳara:

Palestinian scholar of the third and fourth centuries. He was a pupil of Samuel b. Naḥman, in whose name he asserted that since the destruction of the Temple neither good wine nor white earthenware could be obtained (Lam. R. iv. 5). The name "Ḳara" was given him on account of his familiarity with the Bible (comp. "Mattenot Kehunah" on Lam. R. iv. 5).
