International Organization For Standardization

The International Organization for Standardization or ISO[1] is a non-governmental organization based in Geneva, Switzerland which creates and promotes international standards.

The name of the organization is ISO from the Greek for the same. Many English speakers wrongly assume that it is an acronym for International Standards Organization.
