Churros are a popular Mexican dessert or snack food that originated in Spain and Portugal. They are a pastry made of dough that is fried and then covered lightly in sugar. The dough is squeezed through a tube called a churrera to make the long rope shape.

Churros are popular in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay and Uruguay as a dessert or as a breakfast food, like Danish pastry or bear claw in America. They are also sold on the street or in bakeries.
