North Port, Florida

North Port is a city in Florida, on the Gulf Coast.

Originally named North Port Charlotte (to distinguish itself from neighboring Port Charlotte), the citizens dropped the Charlotte portion of the name in 1974.

The Atlanta Braves have their Spring Training facility in North Port. Other notable places of interest are Warm Mineral Springs (a notable artesian spring, with a nearby motel which is on the National Register of Historic Places), Little Salt Spring, and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
