Homework Nine Answers - Student Sixteen

From Conservapedia

1. In my opinion the nation either needs unions or the antitrust laws to insure a competitive market

Did you mean "neither"? I can't tell what your answer means ... and some additional explanation would be better. (Minus 1).

3. The progressive movement is good in principle but in practice it often leads to bigger government.

Right.

5.William Jennings Bryan gave the speech in 1896. The speech was meaningful because helped him win the Democratic presidential nomination. The speech was given in support of “free silver” or the unlimited mining and coining of silver.

But why was it "meaningful" just because it helped Bryan win the nomination? Someone else would have won the Democratic nomination and likely lost the general election just as Bryan did. (Minus 1).

6. Global warming is probably the best example of “yellow journalism” today.

Terrific answer.

7. Grover Cleveland was considered to be the “Conservative Democrat”. He opposed bailouts and government spending while reducing corruption

Excellent.

8. Both the racial accommodation movement and the temperance movement picked up around the turn of the century

Correct.

H1. I don’t think it was a good idea to attack the Philippines but the way America stop the guerrillas makes sense because the goal in war is to harm your opponent as much as possible.

I don't agree with you about the "goal in war," but your answer still deserves full credit. I'd say the goal in war is to win the war with minimum casualties.

H3. I think that the unions back then were a little better and less corrupt then now but both still want money and power.

Right. (Note: "then" -> "than")

H5. While John Rockefeller had some unscrupulous businesses decisions, once he had money he seemed to try to make life better for others leaving me with the opinion that he was a better man then he is given credit for. --AnthonyF 12:02, 14 April 2011 (EDT)

Excellent.
