Peter Jackson (born 1961) is a New Zealand-born director best known for his The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit films.
Peter Jackson was born in near Wellington, New Zealand, on Halloween 1961. His parents gave him a 8mm camera for Christmas in 1969, which started his ambition to be a director.[1] His first movies were all stop-motion with his friends and him spending hours making scenes and editing until late.
In 1987 Peter Jackson made his first full length movie titled Bad Taste. Made on a meager budget, Bad Taste tells the story of a small New Zealand community which has been invaded by aliens. What followed started Peter Jackson's early style of film which he would he would follow up with Brain Dead in 1992.[2] Shot with humor and gore, both films did well and cemented his career as a movie director.
Peter Jackson went on to direct Heavenly Creatures with Kate Winslet, The Frighteners with Michael J. Fox, before The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
