Due Diligence

From Conservapedia

Due diligence means the care taken by a reasonable person prior to purchasing an asset or company. It typically includes an audit of the business value of the potential investment, and also includes a review of all material facts related to the acquisition.

It is the modern equivalent of the ancient concept of caveat emptor.
