Lieutenant Governor

From Conservapedia

The Lieutenant Governor is usually the second-highest position in a state government, with much the same function to the state as the Vice President has to the United States. In most (but not all) states, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor run on a ticket together.

In Texas, the Lieutenant Governor runs the Senate, and is considered by some to be the most powerful elected official in the State.
