Family Computer Disk System

From Conservapedia

The Family Computer Disk System, or Famicom Disk System, is an add-on for the Family Computer, the Japanese equivalent to the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released in early 1986, exclusively in Japan. With the add-on, players could play games released on a proprietary floppy disk-like format. The Legend of Zelda was one of the first games for the Family Computer Disk System.

Since western countries never received an equivalent to the Family Computer Disk System, its games were instead released on a cartridge medium when they were released for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
