Elector

A presidential elector for the United States of America is a member of the group of individuals which elects the President and Vice President of the United States of America,[1] as part of the Electoral College. The current procedure for the appointment and voting of the USA presidential electors is outlined in Amendment Twelve of the Constitution for the United States of America[2] and in Title 3 of the United States Code.[3]

Elector was also the title of the ruler of a number of German states in the Holy Roman Empire. Brandenburg was an electorate, as became Hanover in 1692; an Elector of Hanover became King George I of Great Britain in 1714.
