The Appalachian Mountains are a mountain range in eastern North America. They extend close to 2,000 miles from Newfoundland, Canada to Alabama in the United States. This is an older mountain range in comparison to its North American counterpart, the Rocky Mountains.[1]
The highest point in the range is Mount Mitchell at 6684 feet.[1]
