Malaysia is a country in Southeast Asia. It is separated by the South China Sea into two regions, Peninsular Malaysia and the island of Borneo's East Malaysia. The peninsula shares a land and sea border with Thailand, as well as sea borders with Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia. East Malaysia shares land borders with Brunei and Indonesia, as well as a sea border with the Philippines and Vietnam.

Malaysia's climate is tropical, and it is home to numerous species of plants and animals not found anywhere else in the world.

Tanjung Piai in the Malaysian state of Johor is the southernmost point of continental Eurasia (the continental land mass of Asia plus Europe).

Kuala Lumpur is the nation's capital, the country's largest city, and the seat of the legislative branch of the federal government, which is a federal constitutional monarchy with 13 states and three federal territories. Kuala Lumpur is in west-central Peninsular Malaysia.

The country had a population of over 33 million as of 2021.
