Chattanooga is the fourth-largest city in Tennessee (after Memphis, the capital of Nashville, and Knoxville), and the seat of Hamilton County.
Chattanooga, formerly known as a railroad city, is located some seven miles north of the Georgia border.
A major battle in the American Civil War was fought here with a Union Army victory.
Benson H. "Pat" O'Brien, the owner of the internationally famous "Pat O'Briens" bar in New Orleans, was born in Chattanooga in 1894.
