Clam, 405, is the remains of what is said to be the "oldest animal ever". It has been christened "Ming" (named after the Chinese dynasty) and according to a British scientific team from the School of Ocean Sciences, University of Wales (Bangor) the longevity of the 405-year-old clam could reveal the secrets of aging.
The shellfish was dredged as part of a study into climate change over the centuries but because of its extreme age it is now also being investigated by a team of biologists looking into aging. [1]
