Ming (Clam 405)

Clam, 405, is the remains of what is said to be the "oldest animal ever". It has been christened "Ming" (named after the Chinese dynasty) and according to a British scientific team from the School of Ocean Sciences, University of Wales (Bangor) the longevity of the 405-year-old clam could reveal the secrets of aging.

The shellfish was dredged as part of a study into climate change over the centuries but because of its extreme age it is now also being investigated by a team of biologists looking into aging. ^[1]
