Cinema has a number of meanings relating to the motion picture industry. In its main context, it is a theatre where motion picture films (aka movies) are shown to a paying audience. In a broader sense, the term relates to the motion picture industry as a whole as regards the production of films. Cinema is an abbreviation of cinematography which is the art of photography and camerawork in film-making.
