1. The "Gilded Age" refers the time period that stretched from the mid to late 1800s. During these years, the US experienced great growth in many areas including population. This also proved to be a time when the wealthy upper class flaunted its riches. The Gilded Age ended with the depression of the 1890s.

Superb, except explain how the name references to a less-than-golden reality underneath the wealthy surface. (Minus 1).

2. Thomas Edison was never one of the great people in history who were really inspired by but I think that it is amazing how his public school teacher had him drop out because of "stupidity" and then he ended up inventing some of the most important inventions in history.

Can't follow your answer. Is a word missing? (Minus 1). Also, it does not seem to respond fully to the question. (Minus 1).

3. I think that the fact that there was so much land out west that anyone could go settle in was probably inspiring.

Inspiring, yes, but how did it affect the "views" of the Americans. Again, please be sure to answer the question asked. (Minus 1).

4. In other countries, there was still much class discrimination, and it was much less accepted for a lower class person to make something of themselves. In America, EVERYONE had a chance to succeed, and people had much more inspiration to do so.

Excellent.

5. I think that they used to be a lot more influential than they are today.

Good insight. An example? (Minus 1).

6. John D. Rockefeller

Good, explain why. (Minus 1).
Answer to #7? (Minus 10).

H1.Grover Cleveland was very conservative in his views and actions.

OK.

H2. In a way the Blaine Amendments are good or at least safer. Once the government helps fund a Christian (or any religion) school, they could very easily claim some sort of control over the school, even if in the beginning, they were only funding with no strings attached.

Excellent point.

H4.Unions started out as a good thing and over the years have become corrupt.

Good.
