Governor

The office of governor is the executive branch of a state government in the United States. It is elected by the people during the general election. Governorship terms may range, but are usually four years.

Historical Definition of Governor[edit]

The term governor has had a variety of meanings throughout history. European colonies often had a governor appointed by the king. Bodies such as the Federal Reserve have governors.
