Pastor is one of the titles given to the ordained leader of a Christian congregation. The term is used in the Roman Catholic Church, in many Protestant churches, and in other Christian denominations. The word pastor is Latin for "herder" or "shepherd".
In modern society the term is preceded by a specific title (the term "Senior Pastor" referring to the person usually giving the weekly sermon, while "Student Pastor" would refer to the pastor overseeing middle- and high-school student ministry).
