At her Sarcophagus

Elizabeth Barrett Browning (Durham, England 1806 – Florence, Italy 1861) was an English writer and poet of the Victorian Era. Her works include The Seraphim and Other Poems (1838), Sonnets from the Portuguese (1850), Aurora Leigh (1857), and Last Poems (1862).[1]

In 1846 she married Robert Browning.

Barret most famous work is Sonnets from the Portuguese, a collection of love sonnets.

As every reader knows, as every critic has noted, her entire output is steeped in biblical reference and allusion. [1]
