From Conservapedia

Lille is a city of more than 225,000 inhabitants situated on the Deule River in Northern France, in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region, on the frontier with Belgium. The city's Flemish name is Rijsel; both the French and the Flemish name mean roughly 'the Island'. Historically the city belonged to the county of Flanders.[1]
