Jeffrey Alan “Jeff” Merkley (born October 24, 1956, age 66) is the junior United States Senator from Oregon and a progressive member of the Democratic Party, being the only U.S. Senator to endorse Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries. He has voted with a majority of his Democrat colleagues 97% of the time during the current Congress.[1] Previously he served as Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives. He currently serves on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, Environment and Public Works Committee, and the Budget Committee.
Merkley colluded in the Kavanaugh smear with a 15-hour filibuster on the Senate floor and is a supporter of the totalitarian Green New Deal.[2]
